about
"Freezing Season" is a song I wrote in reflection of a time in my life when I experienced a personal ice age. I was not working and I was not inspired to play music. Once that dry spell ended, I carried on in fear that I would go through the same thing all over again. I began writing this song describing the fear. However, as I finished the song, I found a personal empowerment. Any freezing season that occurs will eventually thaw, and inspiration will see the light of day again.
lyrics
[Verse 1]
Every winter brings the fear
Of when my bones were cold as stone
The ice age had taken over me
No flowers left to water
No future to nurture
So I kept the weeds of my mind alive
[Chorus]
I cried in icicle tears
With no hope and all fears
That I'd be frozen here
At the end of all these years
Nowhere to rebuild myself
This freezing season
[Verse 2]
I lose track of the days
The sun goes down after I wake
The snow is blank
No lines to read between
Too cold to feel connection
I exist in one dimension
At a wall
With no ending in sight
[Chorus]
I cried in icicle tears
With no hope and all fears
That I'd be frozen here
For all eternity
Nowhere to rebuild myself
This freezing season
[Verse 3]
Awake, but no longer dreaming
For so long, my soul has been sleeping
When inspiration sees the light of day
That will be when the freezing season ends
[Chorus]
No more icicle tears
With all faith and no more fears
I won't be frozen here
For years and years and years
Someday I'll rebuild myself
And I'll be free
